Verify Third Party Inspector Qualifications:

• Must be certified and experienced in crane inspections.

Structure:

• Check mast, jib, counter-jib, base, and turntable for cracks, corrosion, or deformation.

Fasteners & Welds:

• Look for missing bolts, loose nuts, and faulty welds.

Cab & Controls:

• Ensure operator controls are functioning and labeled properly.

• Emergency stop must work.

Wire Ropes & Hooks:

• Look for fraying, corrosion, kinks, and proper reeving.

• Hooks should have safety latches.

Lifting Operation:

• Perform test lifts with different loads, including a load test (typically 110% of rated capacity).

Brakes and Limit Switches:

• Check hoisting, slewing, trolleying, and travel brakes.

• Verify upper and lower limit switches.

Electrical Wiring:

• Must be secured, with no exposed or frayed wires.

Overload Protection:

• Ensure load moment indicator (LMI) and other limiters are functional.

Safety Devices:

• Wind speed indicator, anemometer, anti-collision system (if required).

Base & Supports:

• Inspect concrete base, bolts, and anchorage systems.

Plumbness:

• The mast must be vertical and within specified tolerance.

Issue Inspection Report:

• Detail findings, pass/fail status, and recommendations.

Compliance Stamp/Certificate:

• If passed, provide a TPI compliance certificate valid for the required period (usually 6 or 12 months).
